The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Accidents and incidents were investigated thoroughly, action taken, and lessons learned.

The culture of the service was friendly, open and transparent where people's and staff voices were listened to. Staff told us they felt valued and supported by the management team. Staff comments included, “I feel safe and respected” and “I am supported and the staff team work well together.”

Staffing capacity was sufficient and staff deployment was effective to ensure people's needs were met in a safe, timely, person-centred and consistent way. A relative commented, “There are always enough staff.”

A staff member commented, “We do a lot of training, some is face to face and some is online.” Staff received safeguarding training with annual refresher training.

People, relatives and staff were complimentary about the registered manager and staff team. Relatives’ comments included, “The manager is absolutely fantastic and very approachable” and “The new manager has brought new ideas.”

People enjoyed a range of community outings. Staff facilitated people to participate in activities and explore new interests to enhance their quality of life. Examples include crafts, pompom making, doll therapy, jigsaws, games, tactile objects, parties, fetes and planned holidays.
