The provider did not always make sure that medicines and treatments were safe... The electronic medicines (eMAR) system was unable to display previous records of patch chart administration... There were not always risk assessments in place for medicines that cause bleeding and bruising.
The provider supported staff wellbeing. Staff told us the management fostered a positive work environment and looked out for their wellbeing.
People told us staff responded to call bells in a timely manner. A member of staff told us, 'I think we have enough staff, we’ve recruited a lot lately. It gets busy, but we manage.'
Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care. There was oversight of staff training at manager and senior manager level.
Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally.
One person told us, 'There’s plenty to do, like card games and armchair exercises. They have entertainers in, and we had Irish dancers, that was very good. VE day this afternoon will be good too.'
Some gaps in medication safety like not always tracking patch sites or blood sugar levels properly, and missing risk checks for certain creams or drugs.
The electronic medicines (eMAR) system was unable to display previous records of patch chart administration to see where the last patch had been applied... There were not always risk assessments in place for medicines that cause bleeding and bruising. There were no risk assessments in place for paraffin-based creams that presented a fire risk.
Only basic activities like games, exercises and events, no dedicated coordinator or specialist programmes to make the role more varied.
We saw activities taking place throughout our visit, including a well organised and popular event to commemorate VE day. One person told us, 'There’s plenty to do, like card games and armchair exercises. They have entertainers in, and we had Irish dancers.'

A member of staff told us, 'I think we have enough staff, we’ve recruited a lot lately. It gets busy, but we manage.' One person told us, 'Even agency staff seem to understand the kind of support I need.'
