The service had systems in place to safely store, administer and record the use of medicines. However, these were not always followed: Instructions for medicines which should be given at specific times were not available.
Staff told us they felt valued and supported by the management team. They all commented they were encouraged to voice their opinions, ideas and suggestions. Their comments included, “The registered manager is very supportive... we are working better as a team now”
One staff member told us. “On a morning it can be a struggle to meet everyone’s care needs, we do often have to rush around, with residents not always getting the time they deserve. Most days having to leave some personal care such as washes until the afternoon.”
Staff commented on a learning culture, with one staff member saying, “when I first started at Willowbank, I was given an in depth induction, had lots of online training to do along with moving and handing and fire training I was also given shadow shifts”
Staff felt supported and treated fairly by the management team, we saw evidence of how people were encouraged to make choices, and this was clearly documented.
We saw that regular recreational engagement and social activities were available to people.
