Risks were minimised by detailed risk assessments with clear directions for staff and positive benefits of risk-taking. Learning from incidents reduced recurrence; minor medicine protocol issue addressed immediately.

There was a very positive culture in the service. Staff attributed this to the strong guidance and believed the high levels of positivity stemmed from outstanding leadership. 'I enjoy working here. Its family orientated.'

Innovative training was delivered, such as a 'Autism virtual experience' to embed empathy and compassion. Staff were provided with a thorough induction, training, supervision and appraisal.

Staff praised their managers for positive high-quality leadership and support. One staff member said, 'Without a doubt it is well led. [Name of manager] is brilliant. Not had a manager who is even close to her.'

People's support focused on gaining new skills: seaside, swimming, trampoline, bingo, lake district; one completed library course after desensitisation programme. National Autistic Society accreditation.
