"Good leadership, training and a positive staff culture, but high agency use and past management changes cause caution."
People were supported to be safe and were supported with the risks they faced... Improvements were implemented to ensure medicines were managed safely... On the first day of our visit, medicine management processes were not always robust... On the second day... new processes had been implemented which were much more robust.
The management team were working with staff to change this. The staff team were positive about working at the home and happy working together... Staff spoke positively about the improvements being made at the home and said they were starting to feel like a family.
There were enough staff on duty with the skills required to meet people’s needs... Some relatives expressed concerns about the high level of agency staff used at the home... The registered manager told us they were still using agency staff when needed.
Staff were supported and had received mandatory and specialist training... Records confirmed compliance with mandatory training. Staff confirmed they had undertaken the training required... annual appraisal and regular supervisions.
After numerous management changes... we found there was good leadership and management at the home. Staff were more confident in the management... People and relatives spoke positively about the new management team, who promoted a positive, caring culture. However, they expressed caution as there had been a lot of changes.
