"Staff get strong training and feel like a supportive family, although staffing is just enough to get the job done."
The management team had a proactive and positive culture of safety; improvements made since last inspection, no longer in breach; staff had training and good understanding of safeguarding.
A staff member said, 'From the beginning I was asked for my opinion... I am heard, listened, supported... We all work together to make improvements.' Another said, 'Wentworth Grange isn’t just a job it’s my family'.
The management team closely monitored staffing levels to ensure people’s needs were readily met. They had recently increased the number of staff on nightshift; a staff member said there is enough time/staff to complete what needs to be done.
The training manager ensured staff received a wide range of training including mandatory and condition specific courses. Staff found the training really supported them to provide the best care possible.
Since the last inspection the provider had created a management team who together oversaw all aspects of service; staff reported the registered manager was approachable and encouraged them to go the extra mile.
The activities team were passionate about the role and had carefully developed a programme of events which were tailored to everyone’s tastes, including 1-1 sessions, community outings, fine dining, speakers, beautician, knitting for charity and links with local schools.
Staffing levels are good and monitored closely with recent increases on nights, but staff just say there is enough to get the job done, no word on super low workloads or a long serving team.
A staff member said, 'in my view there is enough time/staff to complete what needs to be done. Working as a team is a key priority'.
