People were protected from the risk of abuse... Staff understood safeguarding... Risk assessments were in place and specific... Robust systems for medicines, no errors.

Staff spoke highly of the management team... 'They work well as a team, they talk to each other and we are well supported.' A relative said, 'It's a great place, a big happy family.'

Staffing levels were enough to meet the safety and care and support needs of people. The home had never had to use agency staff. Most staff members had worked at the home for several years.

Staff received ongoing support through supervision meetings, held every four to six weeks and annual appraisals. Staff had completed or were working towards their level four, Health and Social Care certificates. Staff were able to select some courses that they felt would help them.

The registered manager and deputy manager were both well thought of by people, relatives and professionals. Staff were positive about the managers and the home. One staff member said, 'I want to stay here until I retire. I've worked in care all my life. This is like home from home.'
