"Rewarding culture with caring proactive staff, innovative activity programmes and stable staffing without agency use."
The service had effective safeguarding systems in place... Medicines were managed safely... Accidents and incidents were recorded and analysed so any trends or patterns could be highlighted.
Staff told us, 'Very rewarding job, we can see with all the hard work with people, how they can live their best days', 'The team are very caring, conscientious and pro-active' and 'We all take constructive criticism well'.
The service did not use agency staff. Staff absences were covered by existing staff and management. People's relatives and staff all told us they felt there were enough staff on duty to meet people's needs.
Staff were supported by a system of induction, training, supervisions, appraisals and staff meetings. Staff were appropriately trained, and their competency regularly checked, to ensure people's complex needs were met.
People's relatives and staff told us management were approachable and they listened to them when they had any concerns or ideas. All feedback was used to make continuous improvements to the service.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)... had resulted in... incidents... reduced from up to 20 per month to five... Staff understood the importance of social inclusion and were creative in developing ways people could be engaged in the local community.
