"A happy team who love their jobs and strong management, but basic activities and routine care hold it back."
People's risks had been identified and there were plans in place to give staff guidance on the support to provide. Staff had received safeguarding training and were confident about how to report any abuse.
Staff worked well as a team and told us they enjoyed their jobs. Comments included, 'I really do enjoy it, it is one of the best care homes I have worked in', 'I love it, I love caring for the residents, like a second family'
There were enough staff available to support people and the registered manager kept staffing numbers under review. Staff told us there was enough staff employed.
Staff had been provided with the training they needed to enable them to carry out their roles effectively. New staff were provided with an induction and had time to shadow more experienced staff.
There was a registered manager in post who had worked at the service for a number of years. People, relatives and staff told us the service was well-managed and they felt able to approach the registered manager with any concerns.
Per 2019 comprehensive inspection: Activities were planned so people could join in if they wished. We observed an entertainer was booked to sing for people. On another day people were encouraged to join in a music workshop.

Training covers the basics with e-learning and workbooks but no specialist courses or funded qualifications to build skills.
Other training was provided by workbooks, e learning and some face to face sessions.
Staff numbers are enough most times but get stretched if someone is off sick even with internal cover and no agency.
'as long as we have the three carers and the senior there is enough staff, if there is less that is a lot harder. Staffing is consistent, if somebody does ring in sick, they do try and cover the shift.'
