Staff knew how to recognise and report concerns. All staff told us they were confident action would be taken if they reported any issues... Risk assessments and care plans continued to be in place and were reviewed as people's needs changed.
A staff member told us, “This is an extremely kind and loving family. They love and support each other. Everyone knows how to express their thoughts and mood and it's just wonderful to watch it. I really like that everyone in the family treats each other with respect.”
The service had a stable staff team who knew people well... On the day of our site visit we observed the deployment of staff throughout the day was organised and that staff had time to spend with people on an individual basis.
Records showed that all staff had completed a period of induction when they started working at the service which helped them to familiarise with the provider’s standards, polices and systems. A staff member told us, “We all have safeguarding training, it’s included in the compulsory induction training.”
The provider was open and approachable. They led by example to make sure the care and support provided was inclusive. Staff felt supported and all said they would be able to speak up about any concerns.
Several people chose to spend their time working outside on the small holdings in the extensive grounds... staff supported people to become involved in community events such as joining the local amateur dramatics production... bingo nights, music nights, supermarkets, local walks, local parks, local private swimming pool.”
