"Approachable management and positive team culture, but short staffing causes rushed routines and some training is outdated."
When we reviewed how medicines were administered, we found it was generally safe... However, we identified some areas of medicine administration for improvement. We found 1 hoist had not been checked... some people’s air flow mattresses were not set correctly.
Staff told us they were treated fairly by the provider and enjoyed working with each other as a team. Staff from different backgrounds told us they were well supported by their colleagues and the registered manager to feel included.
Per 2018 comprehensive inspection: staff said 'sometimes when we're short of staff we go into doing routines and no longer personalized care' and relatives noted 'sometimes they run short.'
However, we found some areas of staff training had not been completed or were not up to date in line with the provider’s policy.
Staff said the management team were approachable, inclusive and supportive. Staff comments included, “They are very approachable and understanding” and “I feel very supported as an employee by management.”
People were offered a range of activities within the home. A co-ordinator arranged activities... One person told us, “There are several activities which I enjoy and take part in” and a relative said, “they do lots of activities, for example painting, drawing and cookery.”
Staff sometimes feel short staffed and end up rushing routines instead of giving personal care.
