We identified people were at risk of harm due to poor diabetic care and management which presented a significant safeguarding risk.
Staff described morale and culture at the service to be good. One staff member said, “We’re a happy and good team. We’ve really bonded and really get on.”
Staff told us they felt there were enough staff on duty and that they received the training they needed to meet peoples’ needs. We observed there were enough staff to meet the needs of people using the service.
The training matrix viewed at the time of our site visit showed improvements were needed to increase the completion of staff training in some key areas to promote safety. For example, moving and handling and basic life support.
Some family members told us the manager was often not available in person or by telephone. They also spoke of the high turnover of managers at the home.
