Working at The Avenue Nursing Home

Care plans to guide staff on repositioning contained conflicting information and staff did not always document when people had been repositioned... systems in place did not always detect potential risks in the care environment.

The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Staff listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events.

The service used agency staff who regularly worked at the service and received training and regular spot checks. One staff member told us, “Yes there's enough staff.”

Per 2022 comprehensive inspection: Staff received the induction, training and support they required... progression to apprenticeship programmes... training matrix showed staff training was kept up to date and staff were receiving regular supervision.

Staff member told us “Yes I do believe they [management] act upon concerns we raise. When I thought something could be better, I spoke to management about it, they are currently improving it.”

Per 2022 comprehensive inspection: There was an abundance of activities planned for both in and out of the service... arranged walks and day trips... large interactive screen.
