Working at Straven House Care Home

Staffing is adequate during the day but some people and staff say nights might not have enough cover.

Some people and staff said there may not always be enough staff on duty at night. We discussed this with the operations manager who told us they were in the process of recruiting staff to provide some additional evening cover.

Only basic activities like baking, gardening and trips, no dedicated coordinator or special programmes to vary the work.

People had opportunities to enjoy trips into the community and activities such as baking and gardening in the home. The operations manager told us they were changing their approach to activities in the home... focus on supporting people to maintain their overall well-being, rather than relying on shared, planned activities.
