There were effective systems and processes in place to make sure people were protected from abuse and overall relatives were confident that risks were managed safely. People’s care plans contained detailed and personalised risk management plans.

Staff told us they were encouraged to share their ideas and in doing so to be involved in developing and improving the service. 'We had a team meeting 3 weeks ago, we talk about what we could improve on'

There were some shortfalls in completion rates of training. The registered manager was taking action to address this. The matrix contained a small number of gaps where we were not assured staff had completed required training.

Staff spoke of effective leadership and a positive culture. One staff member said, '[Registered manager] is great, he’s approachable he’s fair, he gives an honest answer he’s very flexible.'

The systems in place helped to ensure people were supported to participate in their chosen leisure activities on a regular basis... people went swimming, helped in food banks and charity shops.
