"Supportive managers and a stable, passionate staff team, but basic activities and busy staffing at peak times hold it back."

One relative described the staff team as being ‘one big family.’ The manager told us, “We have a good stable staff team here and we all feel passionate, it’s not just a job, we all own it.”
We received some mixed feedback about staffing levels from people and staff, one person told us, “I would say its busy and they could do with more staff.” A member of staff told us, “It can be busy in the mornings and at mealtimes and it would be nice to have more staff then, but we still get it all done and I feel people are safe.”
Managers ensured staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care. Staff told us they felt they were provided with the training and support they required.
Managers were well thought of by people, their family and staff. Comments from staff included, “[Manager’s Name] is helpful and approachable” and “The manager listens.”
Activities were provided which reflected people’s personal needs, for example, for people who were cared for in bed, activities were provided on a 1-1 basis, such as nail manicures. Group activities included pizza making and scone baking.
No dedicated activities coordinator or varied programme, just basic things like baking and manicures.
