Working at St Mary's Nursing Home

No permanent manager in post, just a care consultant from the management company overseeing things.

There was not a registered manager at the service at the time of the assessment. We met a care consultant for the management company overseeing the management of the home.

Not enough staff, so care workers are stretched and residents wait or get left alone too long.

Most people and relatives we spoke with said there were not enough staff to make sure people received the care they needed. “They don’t have enough staff. I can’t move out of my bed and if there aren’t enough staff to get me into my chair I have to stay here.”

No activities coordinator, so only basic one-on-one like nails, massage or music from care staff.

There was no activity coordinator in post at the time of our visit. They told us, “...do their nails or give them a massage. I ask people if they want me to play music or watch TV.”
