Working at St Davids Residential Care Home

No permanent manager on site, just an interim one and the owner visiting weekly.

The registered manager had been absent from the service since May 2021. The service had appointed an interim manager, who was not registered with the commission at the time of the inspection.

Infection control policies are out of date and they are not fully following testing rules for new residents.

We were not assured that the provider was admitting people safely to the service. Government guidelines were not being followed in relation to enhanced testing regimes... The information contained within the policies and procedures was out of date.

They did not do full checks when hiring staff like getting references or explaining work history gaps.

Per 2019 comprehensive inspection: Recruitment files did not contain references from previous employers and there were no recorded explanations for employment gaps for staff employed.
