People received medicines safely from staff who were trained to administer medicines. However, the management of prescribed creams did not follow best practice and the provider took immediate action to improve their safe storage.
Staff told us they felt the provider cared and valued them and promoted their wellbeing. One staff member described the provider as, ‘exceptionally supportive.’ Other comments included, “[Provider] is amazing, she has taught me so much.” And, “[Provider] always asks about us, and always listens.”
We received mixed feedback on staffing levels from people. However, people we spoke with told us staff were responsive and attended to their needs. One person told us, “Maybe a little bit more [staff], especially at weekends, but nobody is not looked after.”
Systems and processes were in place to support continued learning. These included supervisions, training, investigations of concerns and the completion of logs for incidents, accidents, potential safeguarding events and complaints.
The provider did not have a manager registered with us. This was required to ensure the manager is of good character and had the necessary qualifications, competence and skills to lead the service and manage the regulated activity of personal care.
People were supported by staff and management team to access key organisations for support with their care and social activities. People were supported to access additional health and social care through close working partnerships with external stakeholders. This ranged from district nurses, pubs and local businesses to visiting entertainers.
