The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Staff listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events.
A senior staff member told us although previously morale had been low due to the changes in management, the new management now listened to staff and had brought positive changes.
on the whole people thought there were enough staff and staff teams on units were mainly consistent. Comments included, “It isn’t too bad here; the staff are kind, but they could probably do with a few more.”
We saw evidence of staff inductions, supervisions and training records as well as regular audits. Staff had completed training relevant to their role so they could support people safely.
Staff spoke positively of management and seniors and told us they were ‘learning a lot’; there was trust and respect for them.
The provider was in the process of increasing the team of well-being co-ordinators from 2 to 3 at the time of this assessment, with the aim to have activities cover in the home 7 days a week.
Staff numbers are enough to get by and teams are mostly settled, but some people feel they could use a few more staff.
