We found breaches of the legal regulations in relation to medicines management, infection prevention and control, and the safety of the environment.

While most staff felt the culture was positive, four staff commented that morale needed to improve, and others told us they did not feel there was a fair and equitable culture.

several staff told us they felt more staff were needed to safely meet people’s needs... numerous occasions where we have had insufficient staffing numbers which I feel puts not only ourselves but also the residents at risk.

Staff were not up to date with all training. There were not always enough staff to cover additional roles such as cleaning and activities although the provider was actively recruiting. Completion of required staff training was ongoing with some gaps identified.

Management oversight of the service needed improvement and quality assurance audits had not identified or remedied all the issues found at this assessment.

We received mixed feedback regarding activities provided for people. One person told us, “I get my hair done... A relative told us, “I haven’t seen anything going on that my relative could join in with.” During the assessment we observed very little in the way of activities taking place.
