Working at Shining Star

There were systems in place to protect people from abuse. People's risks were assessed and monitored. Lessons were learned when things went wrong as incidents were recorded and actions completed.

Staff spoke positively about the manager of the service and the changes since our last inspection. One staff member said, 'I think [manager] is great... always open to discussion and will try to cover and support you.'

Staff rotas showed there were enough staff on shift at all times. The service used existing or agency staff to cover shifts when there was staff absence.

We were shown photographs of events where people were smiling, having participated in activities such as arts and crafts and visits to sights of interest. Staff supported people to go swimming.
