"Supportive management, open culture and good training, but occasional waits during busy times and no specialist activities."
The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Staff listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events. Lessons were learnt.
Staff told us there was an open culture; they said they felt valued and respected and were encouraged and supported to develop professionally.
The staff rota showed that staffing levels were maintained. Overall, people using the service told us they felt there were enough staff on duty.
Staff told us additional training was available such as for senior care staff roles, NVQ qualifications and the provider’s ‘champion’ roles. Training was also provided by external health professionals.
Staff told us the management team are really good: supportive. In other jobs it was a bit daunting going to the manager but here I feel at ease.
There is a great activities programme... trips to the local cathedral... canal boat trip... gardening club... quizzes, entertainment, art club, Scrabble.
Staffing is adequate with enough carers on shift, but busier times mean occasional short waits for help.
Obviously, there's sometimes when it's busier than others and some people ring their bells, so just occasionally you have to wait, but not for long at all.
Varied activities like outings, quizzes, gardening and clubs keep things interesting, but no specialist therapeutic programmes or innovative methods.
There is a great activities programme, I tend to pick and choose, but there is plenty going on. For example, I was a guide at a cathedral, so they took us all in the minibus... quizzes... gardening club.
