The registered manager had been in post for several years and knew the staff and people very well. They ensured they completed shifts in the service regularly to enable them to have oversight of how the home was running.
The provider supported people who struggled to meet with their friends by creating a friendship group that met regularly. This enabled people to socially engage with others and have a community presence using local facilities such as coffee shops. People were supported to go on holidays of their choosing... visit a car museum, others who liked beauty treatments were supported to visit beauty salons.
Not all staff finished specialist training on learning disabilities and autism yet, even though some did and others are booked.
