Leaders and staff ensured safeguarding processes were followed. Staff understood... how to identify possible abuse... Risks to people had been appropriately managed... Medicines care plans... comprehensive and up to date. People's medicines were appropriately prescribed, supplied and administered.
It was evident from our inspection there was a positive culture in the home which was led by the manager. Staff told us the manager had the skills... to lead effectively... A member of staff said, '[Name of manager] is very supportive and passionate... It's a nice place to work.'
We saw a full complement of staff on duty during our inspection in accordance with the day's rota, but comments from some people indicated continuity of care could be improved, especially with regards to agency staff.
The provider had a training matrix to monitor the training that was completed by all staff and when it was next due for a refresh. Staff received training in topics such as safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, dignity in care and medicines management.
Staff spoke very positively about the manager. A member of staff said, 'The manager and deputy are really good and very approachable.'
A programme showed that the home could offer activities... such as bingo, arts and crafts, music, reminiscence, day trips and religious services. However, in some floors of the home we did not observe much entertainment or activity taking place, which was due to a lack of activity staff available on the day.
