Staffing is enough most days but gets stretched with absences or new staff training, and they sometimes bring in agency workers.

Staff told us that most of the time there were enough staff on duty. Some commented that if there was staff absence or when there were new staff still undergoing training this could put additional pressure on staff. The service had their own bank staff to cover absences, but occasionally used agency if their own staff were unable to cover. (per 2019)

Training covers the basics and some dementia courses with supervisions, but no funded qualifications or career progression paths.

Staff told us they had the training they needed to do their job and to support people. Staff mentioned 'Living in my World' training... Staff felt supported by managers and had regular supervisions. (per 2019)

Activities are regular and varied with a coordinator, quizzes, outings and school visits, but no specialist therapeutic programmes to enrich the role.

There was a full programme of activities... We observed a quiz in the Shannon unit... children from the local school and a local nursery regularly visited the home. (per 2019)
