"Enough skilled staff working well together in a positive culture, but management changes and training gaps like health monitoring hold it back."
The provider did not always work well with people to understand and manage risks. Whilst staff generally provided care to meet people’s needs that was safe, supportive and enabled people to do the things that mattered to them, we did note an instance during the assessment where staff did not proactively manage risk relating to a person’s health.
Staff told us the culture at Rosekeys had improved recently and there was a more positive culture of engagement. One staff member we spoke with explained about the team values and gave the acronym “CHOICE” which stood for the organisations value of caring, honest, one team, innovative, courageous and equal.
Our observations showed there were enough skilled and knowledgeable staff available who worked well together to provide safe care that met people’s specific needs including when they required one to one support.
We noted some staff had undertaken training on National Early Warning Score (NEWS) 2 but not all staff had received the appropriate training to effectively take and record people’s stats. NEWS2 is a score calculated using people’s temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, rate of breathing and responsiveness to assess how unwell they are and deterioration in their health.

The home has had a number of management changes which has impacted the delivery of the organisational vision and professional management of risks.
