People were protected from risk of harm and abuse. Staff received safeguarding training and understood their duty to keep people safe. Risks associated with people’s on going care needs were identified and acted on... people received their medicines as prescribed.
Staff told us “Registered manager is easy to talk to”, “I think registered manager is approachable. No one is scared to talk to her”, “I feel I can go to her with anything”. There was a system in place to support staff to speak up and raise concerns.
Observations and staffing rotas confirmed sufficient and safe staffing levels were in place. Relatives told us “I think there are enough staff, high turnover but some familiar faces.” Staff said “yes, I feel there is enough staff, and we are pretty much fully staffed currently... If we are short... offering enhanced pay to cover”
Staff told us “The training is very good... practical manual handling. We have (specialist training)... epilepsy, manual handling and first aid every 6 months”. Records showed staff completed required training, comprehensive induction, regular supervision, training up to date with spot checks and annual competency checks.
Staff told us they felt confident in speaking up and raising concerns. Comments included “Registered manager is very good. If you ever need to chat she is there and very receptive to new ideas and thoughts from the staff and any questions.”
Per 10 July 2024 assessment: we observed staff took time to meaningfully engage with people prior to a music activity taking place.
Enough staff to meet needs now, but high turnover means some unfamiliar faces and they offer extra pay to fill gaps when short.
