"Staff feel supported by a responsive manager with good training and safety, but agency staff use makes the team less stable."
Medicines were administered by staff who had received training to do so and were managed safely. Staff had been trained in safeguarding, knew the signs to look for that people might be being abused and how to report any concerns.
Staff were very positive about the support that had been provided by the manager. One staff member said, 'I like [registered manager] and I can talk to them.'
We made observations that there were enough staff on duty to keep people safe and meet their needs. One person told us, 'I press my button and staff arrive straight away. There is enough staff.'
Per 2019 comprehensive inspection: Staff had access to regular training relevant to their role and responsibilities. Specialist training including dysphasia and swallowing difficulties, percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy (PEG) and catheter care was also provided.
Staff were positive about the support provided by the registered manager. The registered manager was very responsive to any minor concerns identified during the inspection and acted immediately.
During our inspection we observed an art session with one person being assisted to paint their cat 'Stanley', the interaction was very person centred. Per 2019: activities coordinator, exercise to music, school children visits, dog racing, choir.
Staffing levels are enough to meet needs but agency workers are sometimes used so the team is not fully stable.
protocols did not always specify the type or location of the pain... particularly for agency staff and newer staff.
Activities are regular with a coordinator and variety like art and community visits but no specialist programmes or innovative approaches.
We observed an art session... person centred... Per 2019: exercise to music class... school children... dog racing... choir.
Safety processes are good overall but some monitoring gaps like fluid charts not totalled and as-needed medication guidance not always detailed enough.
some fluid charts had not been totalled... Protocols did not always specify... with enough detail for staff to be able to administer correctly.
