The service made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff... A person told us, “I would say that there are plenty of staff, I never wait and they come and help me in time.”

All staff had completed the care certificate and most had undertaken vocational study such as a diploma or NVQ in health and social care... who received effective support, supervision and development.

The service had exceptionally inclusive leaders who had the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively... Staff told us, “I’m proud of [registered manager] and [deputy manager] as they pull everyone together.”

Staff took time to find out what was unique about each person... for example, a person living with dementia used to be a pianist, staff arranged for a pianist to visit... The registered manager worked well with other organisations, such as taking part in research into dementia with universities.”
