People received their medicines safely and as prescribed, and staff received training in medicines management. Staffing levels were overall adequate to meet people’s needs... We checked the staff rota for the previous 4 weeks and found that although all the shifts were adequately covered, the provider relied on agency staff to cover some shifts.
Staff received regular training and had their competencies checked. External healthcare professionals involved in the service provided information and training sessions to enhance the staff’s skills and knowledge.
Staff spoke favourably of the management team and felt listened to and consulted. The registered manager had been at the home for 7 years and was well established and respected by the staff.
The home employed an activity coordinator who organised the provision of daily activities. Activities organised included painting, board games, cooking, Shetland pony visitors, balloon swatting and regular visiting performers such as musicians and singers.
