"Reasonable staff culture, but staffing shortages impacting wellbeing, lack of activities, training gaps and poor medicines safety hold it back."
Medicines were not always managed safely. People did not receive their medicines as prescribed. We checked medicines stocks and found eight people's medicines stock was incorrect.
Staff told us there were no night staff, so they were having to work days, nights and work extra shifts which was impacting their wellbeing. Not all staff felt they could approach the management team due to a lack of confidentiality.
There was not always sufficient staff on shift, this included staff to provide activities and domestic duties. Staffing levels were not always provided in line with the numbers of staff required.
The providers training matrix did not assure us that staff had received the required training to meet people's needs. Staff did not always have up to date medicines training or had not had an up to date competency assessment.
Not all staff felt they could approach the management team due to a lack of confidentiality. There was no staff satisfaction surveys and a team meeting had not been carried out since April 2022.
There was a lack of activities and engagement to meet people's social needs and provide them with stimulation. There were no activity coordinators at the time of inspection.
No activities or coordinator, so the job is mostly rushed routine care with no variety or stimulation.

Not enough staff on shifts, so care is hectic, people wait, and you have to cover nights and extra hours hurting wellbeing.
Staff told us they did not have time to spend with people. One staff member told us, 'No not really, we don't have to spend with people. Sometimes people have to wait for the care. It can be very hectic.' Staff told us there were no night staff, so they were having to work days, nights and work extra shifts which was impacting their wellbeing.
Training gaps in key areas like medicines and diabetes, with unreliable records so skills not assured.
Staff did not always have up to date training. For example, staff did not always have up to date medicines training or had not had an up to date competency assessment... only two staff and the registered manager had diabetes training.
