People were safe at the service. Staff had been trained to safeguard people from abuse and understood how to manage risks to people to keep them safe; robust systems for incidents and medicines.
Staff worked well as a team... Staff approached us throughout the inspection to tell us how much the service had changed for the better; staff felt listened to and well supported.
There was now a stable staff team who knew people well and were experienced in delivering person centred care; staffing levels regularly reviewed and increased in relation to peoples' dependency levels.
They completed relevant training including specific training to support people living with dementia, and person-centred care. Training was now refreshed at regular intervals; staff had regular supervision.
Staff all commented on how they felt listened to and well supported by the management team; however, systems needed to continue to be embedded to ensure consistent leadership.
There were now two activity co-ordinators... activities such as bingo, arts and crafts, manicures, hand massages and games... more outings, including trips requested by individuals.
Management team is new from sister home and systems are still embedding after recent turnaround, so leadership feels competent but not fully settled yet.
Enough improvement had been made... However, systems needed to continue to be embedded to ensure consistent leadership and to mitigate the risk of the issues we found at the last inspection happening again.
Activities are regular with two coordinators running bingo, crafts, outings and manicures, but no specialist programmes or innovative approaches to make the role more varied.
