People did not always receive their medicines as prescribed... one person raised concerns with the manager about an allegation of abuse, however, this was not escalated to the local authority safeguarding team.

Staff comments included, “To be honest I don’t feel supported at the moment” and “I feel like the workload has increased.” Staff did not feel listened to when they raised issues and said they were told by management to ‘get on with it.’

Safe staffing levels were not always maintained to meet people’s needs... staff were not readily available to support people.

Some staff had not completed the training required to meet people’s needs. For example, how to apply topical creams, and understanding mental capacity act (2005) and understanding deprivation of liberty and safeguards (DoLs).

The provider recently appointed a new manager and deputy manager... However, management and oversight systems were not robust, and opportunities to identify areas for improvement were missed.

One person said, “I like colouring, we get together with other residents and have a chat. We do chair exercises and yoga.” During our visit, a range of activities was offered.
