"Staff feel supported with engaging activities and up-to-date training, but no registered manager and safety shortfalls hold it back."
Risk assessments needed further information... weights were not always recorded as needed... Care and support was not always assessed, or monitored... This was a breach of regulation 12.
Staff said they felt supported by management and said their development was well planned.
There were sufficient numbers of staff available, however, improvements were needed around the deployment of staff, particularly during busy periods.
Staff were up to date with their basic mandatory training. Some staff had completed additional courses which were specific to people's needs. However, training provided around areas such as dementia or diabetes were basic level awareness courses.
At the time of our inspection there was not a registered manager in post, however they had submitted their application to register with CQC.
People were encouraged to engage in a range of activity, both group based, but also to pursue individual interests. People were able to continue with gardening pursuits, crafts, and music... staff organised trips to bowling... horse riding sessions... External entertainers regularly visited the home.

At the time of our inspection there was not a registered manager in post, however they had submitted their application to register with CQC.
Risk checks like weekly weights and mattress settings not always done right, putting people at risk.
Pressure relieving equipment was in place... However, the mattresses were not always set to the correct setting according to people's weight... weights were not always recorded as needed.
Enough staff overall but poor deployment at busy times leaves people waiting for help.
We observed however that staff were constantly on the go and people were left at times to sit in their wheelchairs until staff had time to transfer them... they have to wait a long time before they're taken to the toilet.
