Staff apply medicated creams without proper training, and medication records have big gaps which could lead to mistakes on shift.

Records reviewed demonstrated that medicated creams were being applied by care staff without the appropriate training and management staff confirmed this.

The manager's checks and audits missed problems with medication safety.

Whilst the registered manager carried out audits and checks; these had not identified the shortfalls we had found with safe medicines management.

Training has gaps especially around safe medication use for things like creams.

Staff told us that they received training in how to safely administer medication. However, we found that staff were not always supporting people with their medicines in a safe way.
