Working at Newstead Lodge Nursing Home

No permanent manager in post, provider covers only 4 days a week so leadership feels unstable.

At the time of our inspection there was not a registered manager in post. The provider was managing this home 4 days a week as an interim measure.

No structured activities programme or coordinator, just occasional games and music so the role is mostly routine personal care.

During our visit we saw staff spent time with people who were anxious, whilst other staff spent time engaging people with games or music.

Only standard training with refreshers and spot checks, no specialist courses or funded qualifications for care staff.

Staff training was refreshed as required. Records showed staff competency was observed through spot checks to ensure they understood and put that learning into practice.
