"Staff feel well supported by management with a positive culture and strong safety practices, but occasional agency staff are used for one-to-one care."
Mulberry House was the Pilot Home for Medicines Optimisation Care Homes (MOCH) programme and it proved successful in minimising unnecessary prescriptions, streamlining medication delivery and reducing risk of errors.
Staff told us they were supported by the registered manager. One staff member said, “I’m very happy here... I am well supported.” Survey comments: “the communication and togetherness are unique.”
Staff told us there were enough trained staff to look after people safely. Some people needed one to one care and this was provided by core staff or occasionally by regular agency staff.
Staff received appropriate training to ensure they could meet the needs of people for example, specific PBS training and training on the care of a tracheostomy. Staff felt well supported and could train to be an assistant practitioner.
People at the home, and staff, felt well supported by the registered manager and the provider. Staff survey recorded high satisfaction: “I’ve been a nurse for 8 years... Mulberry House has been without doubt the most enjoyable place to work so far.”
