The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Staff listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events. Lessons were learnt to continually identify and embed good practice.

Training records showed there was a high level of compliance with staff training, with a considerable amount of training modules available covering a broad scope of subjects relevant to health and social care. A thorough induction process was in place with regular supervisions in place for all staff.

Leaders knew the staff group well and relationships between staff and leaders were positive. Leaders had practical experience of working alongside people, including personal care.

People were engaged in activities which met their individual needs and preferences. For example, one person was being supported to play a board game in a communal area, whilst another was reciting the names of objects on flash cards. Some people were looking at images of sea life which were being projected on to the floor.
