The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety... Staff had received appropriate safeguarding training and demonstrated awareness... Improvements had been made to record keeping and medicine management and the home was currently having support from the Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes team.
Staff comments included, '[The manager] has done so well and turned it around, a happy place and I enjoy coming to work'... The manager told us how they had worked hard on improving the culture and staff morale had improved. Staff told us 'we are all very close.'
We gathered mixed feedback regarding staffing levels, for example some relatives felt staffing levels could be higher. On our visits we saw there were enough staff... the home had nearly recruited enough staff to be fully staffed. Some agency staff were still being used.
Staff had specific training, and the correct skill sets to be able to support people with autism and learning disabilities. Staff received regular training and updates to help ensure they understood the current standards of care.
There were good systems and audits in place and there was a good oversight over the service, the manager was both capable and knowledgeable about the service and the people living there. Staff feedback was positive about the support they had from the management team.
People were observed engaged and enjoying activities going on throughout the day and trips out... We observed them choosing the film they wished to see... one person wanted to celebrate their sexuality, so they celebrated pride at the home... learning disability music festival.
Staffing is adequate but some agency workers are still used and relatives gave mixed feedback on levels.
