We identified 2 breaches of the legal regulation, a continued breach in relation to safe care and treatment and a new breach in relation to fit and proper persons employed. People were not always protected from risks and potential harm.
Staff all told us they felt valued and supported. Staff told us there were regular staff meeting. A staff member said, “We have regular staff meetings where anyone can raise concerns and to check everyone is ok.”
Recruitment practice was not always safe. The provider had not completed all pre-employment checks; some recruited staff did not have their full employment history, and some references were not from staff’s most recent employer.
Staff had not always received the training they needed to carry out their role, the leadership team had been working to increase staff training compliance in recent months and the team was now largely compliant with training.
A new manager was in post but was not registered with CQC. Their application needed review before resubmitting.
Relatives said, “When [loved one] was a bit more active when [they] first went in,[they] use to join in the entertainment, but [loved one] does not get so involved now – It doesn’t seem that there is as much going on as they did before” and “They have a [team to carry out activities] but a number of them have left and there is only one person left on that team.”
