We observed 2 occasions where staff did not follow people’s risk management plans... 1 person eating by themselves unsupervised... another person... using a dessert spoon despite the care plan instructing staff to use a teaspoon

People told us staff did not always respond when they rang their call bell. Comments included, “It’s so short of staff here it’s unbelievable.” Staff: “We could do with another pair of hands. When you cut down on quantity you cut down on quality.”
Staff had been recruited safely and had training in a range of areas. Staff had regular supervision and were able to attend staff meetings. Staff told us they had been provided with medicines training and had their competence assessed
There was unanimously positive feedback about the management team. Staff spoke highly of the management team. Comments included, “They are around a lot and are very approachable”, “[Registered manager] and [deputy manager] are very supportive
Staff told us... the activities staff will support if needed. The service ran a dementia café weekly... The service held fetes and engaged with the local radio station
Residents and some staff say there aren't enough carers sometimes, call bells take too long, and shifts feel stretched with just two carers for 15 residents
