The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety... Processes were in place to ensure actions were taken following any adverse incidents and learning was shared... However, we found improvements were needed in the management of some medicines administered via a patch.
Staff told us they enjoyed working at Long Lea Residential Home because the culture of the home was focussed on delivering the best care possible... Staff morale is much better. It feels more friendly, more open.
There were enough skilled and experienced staff to provide safe and effective care... Staff told us identified staffing levels were maintained which enabled them to meet people’s needs safely and effectively. However, on 3 occasions call bells were heard to ring for a longer period of time.
The registered manager was proactive in supporting and developing staff learning and practice... New staff received a 4-day face to face induction when they joined the service and then worked alongside more experienced staff... The provider required staff to regularly refresh their training.
