The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety. Risk assessments were in place and the registered manager used incident monitoring records to understand themes and lessons learnt.

The provider made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff. A person said, 'I think there’s enough staff'. A relative said, 'I think there’s enough staff, they are always on the go'.

The registered manager promoted a learning culture and ensured staff had access to a wide range of training. Staff had received training around providing good dementia care, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and end of life care.

People, staff and external professionals were very positive about the registered manager and management team. Staff told us they found the registered manager was approachable and really encouraged them to go the extra mile.

Activities provided at the home were very varied, including 1-1 sessions and routine access into the community and to social events. A person said, 'They put on some good shows. There’s enough going on for me, the music people are very good.'
