Staff and staff rotas confirmed there were sufficient numbers of staff on duty and the same staff were consistently used to ensure continuity for people. Throughout our inspection we observed a strong staff presence in the service.
Staff had received training appropriate to their role. Staff were supported to complete the Diploma in Health and Social Care and those new to care work completed the Care Certificate. Staff had received regular supervision.
The service benefitted from strong leadership. Staff told us they felt well supported by the registered manager. One member of staff said, 'The manager and deputy manager are excellent.'
Creative methods of communication such as the use of assistive technology, enabled people with complex needs to express themselves. The service had begun using video care plans. Staff worked creatively to teach people to use email, text messaging and social media.
Management is strong and supportive but has room to improve to reach the highest level.
We recommend the provider continues to develop and embed their management practices to enable the service to become outstandingly well-led.
