Working at IOTA CARE

Risks relating to people's care and lifestyle were assessed and safely managed. People were supported to take positive risks... analysis of incidents... resulted in an immediate reduction in incidents.

All staff without exception told us they felt supported and valued in their role. The provider worked hard to look after the staff team... 'WhatsApp' communication method... to create a 'team' feeling.

Agency staff were not used due to the complex needs... The core staff team had known people throughout the time they had lived at the home and had also been involved in the transition.

All new staff undertook a thorough induction programme... Following completion... regular training relevant to their role... One staff member said, 'We had some autism training recently, it was amazing.'

Providers/directors had a very hands-on approach and worked alongside the care team to deliver support. Support staff said, 'The management are amazing, they will do anything, they work shifts, hoover, anything that needs doing, we are all in it together'.

Developed a social media system, called 'Scrapbook circles'... personalised communication aids... social stories... sensory lighting... voice activated system... measurable outcomes like reduction in incidents and medicines.
