"An open supportive culture and varied activities, but inadequate training and unsafe premises with fire risks hold it back."
Breaches of regulation 12: damp throughout the building, no up to date fire risk assessment, fire doors propped open, premise unclean, no cleaning records, no safeguarding log.
Staff promoted an open culture and was encouraged by management to express how they feel... Staff and relatives told us they felt supported and the management was approachable.
There was enough staff to meet people's needs however the service did not use a dependency tool. The manager stated this would be reviewed following the inspection.
The service did not ensure all staff were up to date with training... We could not be assured staff training was up to date. This was a breach of regulation 17.
The registered manager was receptive to feedback and we saw evidence of ongoing improvement... Staff and relatives told us they felt supported and the management was approachable, but audits were not robust and environment poorly maintained.
Activities were individualised... for example, sky diving and dancing... day services, out on the bus shopping and to church... activity timetable... various group and one to one activities.
