"Staff feel supported in a positive culture with enough staffing, but safety lapses like poor risk assessments and incomplete training records hold it back."
Medicines management arrangements were not always effective... Risk assessments were in place but did not contain enough detail... infection, prevention and control (IPC) practices were not always followed.
All staff were positive about the service. One staff member said, 'It's a nice place to work, it is comfortable and relaxed.' Staff said they felt supported by the registered manager and senior staff.
There were enough safely recruited staff on duty to meet people's needs at the time of our visit.
The training matrix did not show the dates staff had completed training so we could not be assured training was up to date, and the supervision matrix did not include all staff.
The provider's quality assurance systems had not always ensured that the service addressed risks to people's safety and well-being... audits... had not identified and addressed the issues we found.
There were activities in place for people to take part in should they wish. We found on both days of our inspection people that were less able... were less actively involved with less things on offer other than the television.
Safety issues like poor risk assessments, sloppy infection control, and medication storage or guidance gaps make care riskier than it should be.
Risk assessments... did not contain enough detail... infection... not applied consistently. Some areas... had a malodour... Medicines... not always implemented effectively.
Training records don't show completion dates or cover all staff supervisions, so it's unclear if training is fully up to date.
The training matrix did not show the dates staff had completed training so we could not be assured training was up to date, and the supervision matrix did not include all staff.
Management oversight is weak with ineffective audits and unhelpful slang from leaders that doesn't set a good example.
The provider's quality assurance systems had not always ensured... risks addressed... Leaders of the service used slang terms to refer to people which was not respectful.
