However, aspects of recording relating to the management of risks needed to be more robust. In a couple of examples, records needed to be more robust in relation to the actions being taken to manage and to review risks.
The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Staff told us they felt able to raise any concerns with managers. Regular staff meetings were held and had been increased with lessons learnt discussions included.
People and their relatives knew the registered manager and felt able to raise any issues or concerns with them. Staff told us they felt supported and able to raise any concerns should they need to. The registered manager had good oversight and knew the people who lived at the service well.
A resident died recently and CQC is investigating if the home spotted their health getting worse in time, as monitoring was a concern.
The inspection was prompted in part by notification of an incident following which a person using the service died. This incident is subject to further investigation by CQC as to whether any regulatory action should be taken. The information shared with CQC about the incident indicated potential concerns about the monitoring and management of people’s deteriorating health needs.
