Medicines and treatments were generally managed safely. However, we did find some medicinal creams were not always correctly labelled or stored safely. People’s risks were not always monitored in line with their risk assessment.
Staff told us they worked well as a team. One staff member said, “I love my job and I am really happy here”. Staff felt able to approach leaders to discuss any issues.
There were sufficient numbers of staff available during our visit. However, some people and relatives felt there were not always enough staff at weekends, as they had to wait longer than usual.
Leaders ensured staff received regular training, supervision meetings and appraisals to ensure they had the skills and knowledge to support people safely. Staff confirmed they had received training on the Mental Capacity Act annually.
Staff were complimentary about leaders and said they were approachable and supportive. The registered manager had regular meetings and visits from the regional manager and felt supported by the provider.
